I love avocados. And chicken salads. (But not chicken salad.)

I've been having a hard time eating lately because of the heat but also--and this is where I establish, again, that I am the most annoying person I know--because I've been finding all the food I touch "gross." I've been trying to trace this totally obnoxious phenomenon and it's mostly food that I have prepared myself.

I do totally fine with restaurant food and man, do I love restaurant food. If I'm ever so wealthy that I could afford to eat out every night I totally would. Except I love restaurant leftovers just as much so I would probably eat out every other night so I could enjoy my personalized (always) take out containers on the nights in between. I was able to coast through lunches this week purely on leftovers from birthday fun last weekend, but lunches + mooching snacks from co-workers has not managed to dull the overtaking hunger.

I'm obviously hungry all the time and can't seem to figure out a solution. Besides discussing with Heather all day long which foods I wanted to be eating. The thought of grilling chicken makes me want to vomit. Not the chicken itself--take me to Red Robin and I'll show you chicken consumption--but the cooking part? The it-was-once-raw knowledge? I can't explain it.

Late Tuesday night I remembered that I like eggs and that's easy to cook, right? So I cracked some eggs (one-handed, by the way) and added some milk and started a-scramblin. Half way through the scramble I realized I had added too much milk and it wasn't cooking. It was separating from the eggs. Ew. I tried to drain but the eggs were still kind of soggy and I only made it a couple bites into the serving before I kept imaging raw eggs and milk swirling together in my mouth. Into the trash went the eggs.

I haven't had soda since Sunday because it just doesn't sound good. I finally had some ice tea last night--my first drink besides water-influenced bottled water in many, many days.

While burrowing through our cupboards tonight I found several boxes of Carolyn's cereal. I can't remember the last time I ate cereal. Some time in college? Probably three years ago when they had this old school cereal dispenser in the cafeteria. Once in a blue moon I'd be eating a meal there at the same time they had cocoa puffs in the dispenser. I love me some cocoa puffs.

I don't really eat cereal (seriously? who doesn't eat cereal?) because I'm not a big fan of milk in general. I like a tiny little bit to soften the cereal. But not too much. Soggy cereal is worse than separated scrambled eggs. And I can't drink the sugary milk left in the bowl, blech. So unless I've got cocoa puffs (or rice krispies treat cereal) it's so not worth all the hassle.

(My family, on the other hand, ate cereal for at least four years straight. That explains why I went to Panera so much in high school. I think my brother still only eats cereal.)

But cereal was the only thing in the cupboard that seemed tolerable and we have this huge thing of milk that we're trying to use before it goes bad (that influenced the egg situation, by the way, I'm not some milk-adding maniac). Carolyn gets all her cereal at Trader Joe's so I sorted through some organic O's and some krispy ispies before deciding on some sort of granola-y crunch-tastic box. It looked like it could put up a good fight against milk. And it did for the most part. I made it through almost the whole bowl before I felt like I was eating oat mush. Mmm, mush.

If I didn't know better I'd think I was pregnant.

But I'm not.

I'm just stuck here living with myself. Maybe tomorrow I'll try to drink some soda. In the meantime, someone want to send a meal over?

so, what you're saying is that i should not ask you to help with the turkey?

I think the sugary milk left in the bowl after cereal is the best part. MMM!

Kat, I just pray I'm over this soon.

Jennie, it's like you read my mind. I was just reading this. "MMM--my favorite!"
