TV: Paris.

If you read anything, read this: I love Private Practice. Okay. Heather Anne says that I'm the only person in the world who likes it so it's probably going to get canceled. I don't want it to get canceled! This week, I started shipping a relationship--and it had nothing to do with Addison. In fact, Addison could go back to Seattle and I'd still watch Private Practice. That might actually save Grey's too.

Deep breath.

I didn't have enough voters to help me decide which shows to continue to recap so I'm just going to mix it up on a week by week basis. Wild and crazy!

Grey's Anatomy

Cristina is still rocking my face off and Izzie is making me want to quit life.

I could really stop right there, having no more to say, but then I might actually do something productive and who knows what could happen then. Let's keep it on the safe side.

This show is SUCKING in it's fourth season. Sucking. I wuold quit it altogether, but Cristina is the new Nazi and I want to see her and Meredith talk some more. Despite everything else, they've managed to keep their relationship not only watchable but enjoyable, and their BFFness makes me love Meredith.

The internet isn't too fond of Mere ("whiny"), but I can't help loving her voiceovers and abrupt self-awareness. The internet also hates Derek which... I understand. Last couple episodes of Season 3 made me livid.

But somehow I'm able to brush that off when he gets all... McDreamy. But then goes and talks to Meredith's sister and I get angry. But then he tells Mere how much he loves her and I go awwwwww.

But then I remember how he canceled a trip that was his idea and blames her. And that at the end of his I love you, he said, without even taking a breath, he didn't love her enough.

I feel suddenly like I have a lot of emotions about this relationship.

1) I feel worried that Derek can trick me on his off breathes. (Yes, maybe I take TV too seriously.)

2) I understand that he can't be with someone who doesn't want (or can't want) everything he does. I agree with Momma that he deserves better or whatever.

3)But he has to fucking let her go, then. He can't keep fooling around because she loves him. Why is trying to hurt her? Why?!

So, show, I don't want you to get canceled like The OC. I want you to pull it together and kill off the bad plot lines and renew my hope. Because I love (most of) your characters. And Season 2 was bitchin. I know you can do it.

The Office

[Be prepared for tons of awesome pictures. Heather Anne, worried that my recapping would suffer without my laptop, took an abundance of screencaps. I am lazy and even when I have the best computer in the world, tend to only cap when I remember, but she is a bastion of TV watching awesomeness.]

I know I said last week that the DVD box thing was maybe my favorite intro ever but that was before Michael imitated Meryl Streep in Devil Wears Prada. I have said, "You are not coming to Paris!" nonstop. Steve Carrell, you are my hero.

I recently read an interview with Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapoor/show producer) and she commented on Jim and Pam and the writing room. She said:
I think we, as writers, think less about Jim and Pam and more that's it a comedy show starring Steve Carrel. Obviously their relationship is a huge reason why people like the show, but if you ask any of my writers, people also watch the show because of Dwight and Michael.

I love Jim and Pam as much as the next fan... here's a photo of them listening to Harry Potter to prove it:

but I don't know why there was so much ruckus abuot how the show would fail if they got together. This show is about poor, ridiculous Michael Scott.

I love his antics and the office-related stuff way more than the relationship drama. Give me Oscar explaining spending over Andy giving Angela a cat any day. Give me Jim giving Dwight advice over Dwight and Angela exchanging stuff any day. I think this is why I'm looking forward to short episodes again. Less time to screw around with feelings.

With that said, favorite parts:

-Dwight's B and B!! (Two exclamation points worth of favorite!)
-Jenna Fischer's spot on line delivery throughout. I mean really, rewatch Money and just listen to her lines. She is good.

-You are not coming to Paris!
CoatSequential.jpg
-Jim explaining the pain of heartbreak and
-The Kiss after. Steamy.
Aww.jpg
-Darryl telling Kelly to chill the fuck out. Darryl is one of my favorite sideline characters. (remember when he went to New York with Michael?)
DarylExcitedEveryTimeISeeThatLittleDude.jpg
-Oscar's charts, "This scary black bar is what you spend on things no one ever ever needs."
FinancialAnalysis.jpg
-Ryan is a douche. (Heather Anne helped me with that one by naming this screen cap, "RyanDouche.")

-I really, really love Jim.

Jim and Pam warm my heart.

Also, Dwight's B&B was genius. The irrigation room. Bwah!

I totally agree with you about Grey's. I am changing McDreamy's nickname to McDouchey.

ALSO. I love Darryl. He's so complicated. Hee.

I know that no one else liked it, but I really laughed about that "whom" exchange. I especially loved it when Kevin said, "I know what's right, but I'm not gonna say, because you're all jerks who didn't come see my band last night."

And then Ryan was all, "Do you really know?"

And he was all, "I don't know."

Ha!

Also, when can we expect Ugly Betty and 30 Rock recaps?

Thanks.

I loved this week's office and you are totally right about Michael and Dwight. That screeencap of Michael's face just made my day.

I liked the who/whom exchange too, Heather Anne, it felt natural to the scene, especially with everyone getting their agendas in.

Daryl going to New York is one of my favorite episodes because of how he talks to Michael and Toby preparing for the trial that is "inevitable" once Michael threatens to withhold sex from Jan if she doesn't give him a big enough raise. So good.
